The end of the line for an Ancient Maritime Tradition with Historian and Poet Katrina Porteous

The Last Fisherman tells the story of the coble fishing boats which used to be a familiar sight at every port on the North East coast but which are now, sadly, vanishing fast.   It features the handful of men who still use these tiny wooden boats including Main Stephenson at Boulmer and a master boat builder at Whitby.  There will also be a short film Sea of Memories, which features Katrina talking to local fishermen about the history of coble fishing at Beadnell.

Doors open at 6.30pm .
