The Amber Collective came together in 1968 and since the 1970’s this World-renowned filmmaking and photography group has explored the North of England, its changing communities and disappearing industrial landscapes.  Based in Newcastle, they make movies about a way of life that is rapidly disappearing, and one that is rarely represented on screen:  drift miners, sea coalers, fishermen, a rope-worked railway, glassblowing and the engine room of the Shields Ferry, are just a few of the subjects they have tackled over the past 50 years.
