In the autumn of 2006 ten young people from the coastal area were recruitedto take part in a pilot Young Rangers project, since that time they have participated in eleven events ranging from rock pool rambles and bird watching to fencing and pond clearance.
They have learned a lot, been cold and wet but never hungry and above all else have thoroughly enjoyed theexperience. The project offers accreditation through the John Muir Environment Awards to Conserve Award level.
The scheme takes place throughout the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this stretch of coast runs from Amble to Berwick. The area is protected because of the spectacular scenery and natural beauty, all of which we will explore:
Amazing wildlife like seals and puffins |
Golden, sandy beaches |
Green and natural countryside |

The pilot project has been very successful and, subject to funding, we hope that it will continue for many years. If you would like further information aboutthe project please do not hesitate to contact us .
