Look for Local Food Programme Outline
What is Look for Local Food?
"Look for Local Food" is the name of the scheme developed by the Community Shops and Local Food project of the Making Local Food Work programme. This programme is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and managed by the Plunkett Foundation to explore community enterprise approaches to connecting land and people through food.
By 2012 "Look for Local Food" aims to support 200 community and village shops in finding, stocking and selling more locally produced food and drink and in doing so to double the ount of local food sold through these shops. A package of support is available to eligible shops across England wishing to get involved.
Who is eligible?
Village and Community run shops in England only, because Making Local Food Work is funded by Big Lottery Fund, a funding programme for projects in England.
Priority will be given to:
Any Community-owned village shop - that is already trading and would like to increase its current local food and drink offering.
Commercially-owned village shops - That have suffered from a recent Post Office closure or that are the only shop in their village and would like to increase their local food and drink offering.
