A new gardening club has formed in the Seahouses area allowing members to come together to trade seeds, plants and other gardening items. The club operates with the support and as part of, Borders Exchange and Trading System (BETS).
Meeting once a month, members use the BETS currency, the Berwick "Bridge", to trade amongst themselves. The BETS scheme has been running for many years in Berwick and the Borders and currently has over 100 members. The new gardening group will bring together local people with a common interest and help keep down the sometimes high cost of gardening.
So far members are mostly from Seahouses and Beadnell but anyone is welcome to join. We have held 2 meetings trading seeds, plant pots, plants and unwanted garden tools. It has been interesting hearing about others gardening problems and successes and visiting other member's gardens.
For more details about BETS contact Jennifer Hall, Tel 01665 720 993 or jenniferhall7@btinternet.com
The next meeing of the BETS Gardening Club will be held at 10am on Saturday 10 April. Contact Jennifer for venue details. |
