 Flower Power was launched in May 2006, as a community project, the aim was to brighten up Seahouses.Funding was secured from the Local Network Fund and Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty to buy flowers, hanging baskets and tubs.
Working with the local community, businesses and the Parish Council the young people of the Seahouses Youth Project sent out letters to local business’s to see if they would display and look after hanging baskets and tubs during the summer months.Thanks to the businesses who supported the scheme Seahouses Main Street does indeed bloom.
Thanks to a donation from North Sunderland and Seahouses Parish Council we were able to buy and plant spring bulbs.We entered “Flower Power” in the Britain in Bloom Neighbourhood Awards Scheme and were thrilled to receive a progression award in 2006.
